Can you recycle dolce gusto pods

Coffee pods are an intricate mix of plastic, foil and aluminum — as well as coffee dregs — which means they cannot be processed at standard recycling plants. Although some brands have set up their own recycling schemes, these often come with caveats attached and can be inaccessible to some consumers. Aside from recyclable pods, a growing number of brands are producing compostable coffee pods. These include home compostable pods, which will decompose on the garden heap within three to six months, as well as industrially compostable pods, which can be sent away with your kerbside food waste collection.

How it works. If it is labelled as simply compostable then local authorities may collect them through garden or food waste collections if their processes are appropriate. Check with your local authority. Some types or brands of coffee pods and other difficult-to-recycle items are collected for recycling by a company called TerraCycle.
