Each round must be scored in one and only one of the following categories. Ones: Sum of the ones displayed at time the score is entered. Twos: Sum of the twos displayed at time the score is entered. Threes: Sum of the threes displayed at time the score is entered. Fours: Sum of the fours displayed at time the score is entered. Fives: Sum of the fives displayed at time the score is entered.

For example:. You need to roll both a "3 of a kind" and a pair. A "Full House" scores 25 points. This offers a player the opportunity to score on any turn where he does not choose to score in any of the other open boxes. Mark score by totalling number of points on all dice.

You get a bonus of 35 points if the total number of points you scored in the upper section is 63 or higher. For quick calculation, 63 may be reached by scoring 3 "Aces", "Twos", and so on through "Sixes". A bonus can be obtained by having a total of 63 points or more scored in any manner in the Upper Section. If you roll a Yahtzee and you already filled in the Yahtzee box with a 50 , you get a point bonus!

Take one bonus chip, then place a checkmark in the Yahtzee bonus box. Then fill in one of the 13 boxes on your score card according to the Joker Rules see below. If the appropriate Upper Section box and all Lower Section boxes are filled in, you must enter a zero in any open Upper Section box. You decide to set aside the Small Straight and reroll one die. You roll a Two. The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins.

Choose a starting player by any method oldest player, youngest player, highest roll of the dice, etc. Beginning with the starting player, players will take turns one at a time in clockwise order. The game consists of thirteen rounds and at the end of the thirteenth round then the game will end. At the start of a turn, the player takes all 5 dice and rolls them.

Setting dice aside after one roll does not prevent one or more of them from being rolled again on any subsequent roll if the player so chooses. To score the dice, the player selects one of the categories on their score card and writes the score into it. Each category can be scored only once per game except for the Yahtzee category.

Categories can be filled in any order. A player must score the dice on their turn even if it turns out that there are no good categories remaining to score in. Once a category is filled it may not be changed. A player may write a score of zero in any category if they have rolled no point-generating results or if they simply choose to do so. We now input an identity column vector and multiply this by the Transition Matrix. The resultant row vector output shows the probabilities of the distrubutution of states that the dice could be in.

We can now take this output and use it at as the input again and this time the output is the superposition of the probabilities for the dice at the end of the second roll.

To get the probability of obtaining a Yahtzee on or before three rolls, we multiple one last time and read the result of the firth element state 5 in the final output vector. If you missed your Yahtzee roll, what happens if you rolled again?

And again? Below is a chart showing the percentage chance of getting a Yahtzee in n -rolls. The x-axis is the number of rolls, and the y-axis shows the percentage chance. Notice that after 9 rolls, the Yahtzee becomes the most likely event, and the chance of ending up with a pair or Singleton rapdily falls to noise.

On the first roll, it's most likely you'll get a pair , but after that the chances of end up with just a pair rapidly decreases.
