ANSWER It is stated in a hadith-i sharif : The similitude of a person who performs salat after playing backgammon is like the one who performs salat after making wudu' with pus and pig blood.

Question: An arrow pierced Hadrat Ali's foot. Not to feel the pain, he ordered, "Take it out when I begin salat. Because his wudu' broke due to bleeding, did his salat not become invalid? Why did he perform salat in this state? He can perform salat in this state. Similarly, a person who is afflicted by incontinence with urine or wind can perform salat as an excused person.

Secondly, bleeding does not nullify wudu' in the other three madhhabs. Maybe Hadrat Ali's ijtihad was the same. Question: The Wahhabis in Mecca lie and sleep, and then they stand for salat. Does sleeping not break wudu' according to their madhhab? This act of theirs proves that they are out of the four madhhabs.

There are some differences among the four madhhabs concerning the ruling about sleeping nullifying wudu' : In the Hanafi Madhhab , if one sleeps with one's rear not firmly seated, e. If one does not topple over when the thing one leans on is taken away, one's wudu' is not nullified. If one sleeps without falling when performing salat , one's wudu' is not nullified.

Outside of salat , one's wudu' is not nullified either if one sleeps with thighs upward and the head on the knees or by kneeling on the ground or by sitting cross-legged or by sitting with buttocks on the floor and both feet sticking out toward right-hand side.

In the Hanbali Madhhab , sleeping breaks one's wudu' in all cases regardless of one's sleeping position. However, light sleep during a short sitting or standing does not break wudu'. In the Maliki Madhhab , deep sleep, even if it lasts for only a little time, breaks wudu'.

It breaks one's wudu' no matter whether one is lying, sitting, making prostration, or standing. If it lasts for a very short period of time, one's wudu' is not nullified. In the Shafi'i Madhhab , if one's rear is firmly seated, sleeping does not break one's wudu'. Sleeping positions other than this nullify wudu'. As is seen, sleeping by lying breaks wudu' in all of the four madhhabs. Therefore, it is not permissible in any of the four madhhabs for Fallaheen to stand for salat without making wudu' after having slept by lying.

If blood does not come out of the bandage, the wudu' is not nullified. If the bandage consists of two or three layers and some of the layers underneath are soaked with blood, one's wudu' is nullified, too. Fatawa al-Hindiyya In such cases, if one imitates the Maliki Madhhab , one's wudu' is not broken due to bleeding.

Periods break wadu. Once you are on your period your wadu is broken. Some women will do wadu during their period, but seeing as periods break wadu its kind of pointless doing this. I would like to make an important point here. Periods are different to bleeding in between periods. Some women can bleed in between periods due to an illness, due to taking contraceptive tablets or some other medical reasons.

This bleeding is ignored as the Prophet Saw has said that this would be seen as a vein bleeding and not your period. However, each time you bleed you need to do wadu. Basically same principle as urine, discharge. Yes it can be a nightmare but it needs to be done. Blood — this is a major issue people a lot of people stress over and trust me there was a time I would panic over a spot of blood trying to decide whether I should pray or wait for it to go away.

I would seriously spend ages trying to get the blood to stop so that I could pray, and at times I would even miss my prayers. If your blood flows from where-ever the cut is, it is impure and you have to do wadu again when it stops according to lot of Islamic scholars.

However, if it is bleeding for a long time and you risk missing prayers, then put a bandage and do wadu over it. A CUT that does not have blood flowing but sits against your skin will not break your wadu! Looks like you're enjoying the discussion, but you're not signed up for an account.
